mini Star Block

Today we'll be making a mini star block! These will eventually end up in a quilt project were calling our Orchard Garden Sizzix Sampler Quilt.

 Lets make our Sizzix sandwich. Place your cutting pad down first. Next stack your 2” finished square die on top - foam side up. Place 1 print fabric for the center of our star on top - making sure to cover up all of the die cut lines. Then place your second cutting pad on top of the fabric.

 For our next Sizzix sandwich - Place your cutting pad down first. Next stack your 1” finished square die on top - foam side up. Place 1 layer of linen fabric for the 4 corners on top of that - making sure to cover up all of the die cut lines. Then place your second cutting pad on top of the fabric.

 Now, we’ve got our 4 corner pieces.

 For our next Sizzix sandwich - place your cutting pad down first. Next stack your Triangles - 1 1/2" H x 2 1/2" W die on top - foam side up. Place 1 layer of linen fabric on top of that - making sure to cover up all of the die cut lines. Then place your second cutting pad on top of the fabric.

 Finally, lets make our last  Sizzix sandwich. Place your cutting pad down first. Next stack your Half-Square Triangles, 1 1/2" Assembled Square - die on top - foam side up. Place 2 layers of print fabric on top of that - making sure to cover up all of the die cut lines. Then place your second cutting pad on top of the fabric.

Finally, lets make our last Sizzix sandwich. Place your cutting pad down first. Next stack your Half-Square Triangles, 1 1/2" Assembled Square - die on top - foam side up. Place 2 layers of print fabric on top of that - making sure to cover up all of the die cut lines. Then place your second cutting pad on top of the fabric.

 We’ve now got our star points all cut and we’re ready to sew!

 Clip a star point to one edge of your background triangles.

 Using a 1/4” seam allowance, sew the pieces together.

 Now, clip another star point piece to the opposite edge of your units.

 Lay out your star and sew together the 3 pieces in each row using a 1/4” seam allowance and roll open your seams.
